History & Story
The Judge Melish Maidstone Suite - Where Civic Authority Met Domestic Comfort
This suite reflects the connection between law, hospitality, and place. Visiting judges required rooms that offered privacy and dignity, while the name Maidstone anchors the space in the town's legal, commercial, and civic story.
As part of a former judges' lodging, the room suggests the quieter routines behind public justice: preparation, correspondence, rest, and conversation away from formal spaces. It also celebrates Maidstone as the setting that gave the house its public purpose.
Today, the Judge Melish Maidstone Suite offers visitors a sense of how Stone Court House combined civic authority with domestic comfort, creating rooms that were both practical and impressive.
Personal Restoration Note
For us, this suite needed to feel calm, rooted, and dignified. We wanted guests to sense both the importance of Maidstone's judicial history and the quieter comfort of a room prepared for rest, thought, and privacy.
THE RESTORATION
Before & After - The Maidstone Suite Restored

The room stripped back, then furnished for rest, thought, and privacy.

Plaster repaired and finishes renewed, producing a room both practical and impressive.
Historical Significance
